Having an internet connection is
a boon nowadays. But to find out the right connection becomes very
difficult. The different advertisements and catchy slogans cheat many of
us. The main Internet providers are BSNL, AIRTEL, TATA INDICOM & SATYAM. I take Airtel and BSNL for today’s evaluation. The rates vary . Airtel connection is broadband DSL . The speed is very good - 512 kpbs speed. They charge Rs.1000/- per month for unlimited usage. It is open for 24 hours and it has nothing to do with the telephone. We can use both the telephone and the computer’s internet connection simultaneously. Their service is also very good. Any fault in Airtel connection is rectified within 4 hours positively. If by any chance (very rare) the fault is not rectified, the company pays Rs.100/-to the customer. BSNL connection seems to be attractive. But the hidden charges are toomany. They charge only Rs.450/- and in some cases Rs.250/-only. But we have to pay for downloads. In Airtel connection you can download as much as you want and no extra charge for that. As we all know very well, since BSNL is Government organization, the service is poor compared to any other connection. Others work with competitive approach and succeed in their attempt. My daughter lives in Hyderabad. Not in the heart of the city but outskirts. She is unable to use her computer due to non availability of proper internet connection. She has two telephone connections. One is BSNL and the other is Tata Indicom. The speed she gets is a poor 150 kpbs or so and it is very slow. Whenever she comes to Chennai, she enjoys using my computer with 512 kpbs broadband connection. Problems galore when we think of BSNL.
