Compared to a decade ago, it has become extremely difficult for a small business owner to grow because greedy politicians and government employees, especially intelligence and security agencies are always demanding a stake in the business , otherwise the life of the business owner will be destroyed or make it difficult for businesses to flourish. The mainstream media has generally ignored this aspect of the powerful politicians and government officials however both The Week and India today have separately mentioned the harsh fact of owning a business in India which most young people starting a business are not aware of .
In the February 5, 2017, issue of the Week, Jarnail Singh, a retired school teacher from Sangrur in Punjab was quoted as saying”Whenever a business is doing well, the Badals(CM of the state) want a share. People don’t want to give it to them, and have the lost the will to do well in their business because of this”. Similarly India today, in February 2017, also reported the same trend in Tamil Nadu, where politicians wanted a share in the business which was doing well, so that they could get tax free income indicating that it is a nationwide problem.
What these magazines do not cover is the terrible plight of the harmless small business owners, who are not well connected, who refuse to give a share to powerful politicians, intelligence and security agency officials or their associates . The harmless business owners are subjected to a vicious slander campaign, terrible human rights abuses, and held a virtual prisoner, their resume, retirement savings stolen without a court order or legally valid reason. The politicians and government employees usually have a lot of money, yet there is no end to their greed as they mercilessly torture the harmless small business owner, destroying their life and business.
Only in the last decade, politicians and government employees are demanding a stake in the business or destroying it, wasting tax payer money in the process, a clear case of corruption, abuse of power. So fewer people are interested in starting their own business, and everyone prefers a government job, where they have a lot of power, and can abuse it for personal gain or hatred and become very rich. This is also the reason why unemployment has increased greatly in India, starting a business is very risky in India today
